Pure frustration. The devices are poor quality and the software is buggy

As stated on other reviews, the device has trouble connecting to some routers or access points. It connected with no problems to my Ubiquiti networks access point and a TP-Link Archer router, but it would not connect to a Linksys router. Another reviewer states that the sensor “is excellent if used correctly” and that makes no sense. If the product follows the IEEE 802.11 standard, it should connect to any router of reasonable quality. I have to point out that many other Sonoff devices connect correctly to the Linksys router, but the DW2-WiFi sensors do not, so it is not a problem with the router. Either the sensors do not correctly follow the IEEE 802.11 standard or the wireless card in it is poor quality and incompatible with certain routers.

On different subject, if you pair those with an NS Panel Pro, expect many false alarms. If you enable the home or sleep mode on the NS Panel, it will go off every 5-10 min, reporting a door or window was opened but it wasn’t. When you check the log, there are no record of opening or closing. Sonoff tech support tried to make up an excuse that the sensor was going offline and back online and that was triggering the false alarms, however, that is absolutely false. The Ubiquiti access point has a dashboard that shows the length of the current wireless session and the DW2 sensors have had an interrupted connection since the AP last rebooted. After calling them on their fake claims, they told me that it would be fixed in a future firmware upgrade. So now I have five sensors that do not work properly. Buy at your own risk!

See video where the NS Panel Pro shows a false alarm at 18:22 hrs but the log shows that the door was last closed at 17:37 hrs and it hasn't been opened since.

Doesn't connect

I have several products from Sonoff and they are really great, except this sensor. I bought two pf them but they do not connect to wifi at all. They can be found during synchronization but they does not complete the synchronization. I'm always getting the message "Incorrect WiFi SSID" but the wifi network and password are correct...

For the DW2 WIFI, The device wireless transmission is working IEEE 802.11b 2.4GHz, we recommend you select “11bgn mixed” in the wireless mode from the Wi-Fi setting.

Excellent if used correctly.

I would like to inform the various users who have had connection problems with this device, because I also faced these problems but I solved them brilliantly.
The real peculiarity of this device is the wi-fi antenna, and the only way I have found to not have problems is to use an Omada AP (tp-link). These professional products offer a much better and more stable network than the integrated networks of the various modems on the market (I have a Zyxel nr5101 modem, an expensive product but the wireless part is as bad as the cheaper modems).
I repeat, using an Omada AP now, the DW2 is always online, always ready and quick in status changes, then it also connects easily with IHOST whose scenes work without hesitation, except only for an incorrect battery detection, but this is not a problem since on the EWELINK account the battery is detected correctly with the various low percentage warnings.
Product promoted, especially since thanks to the WiFi signal you can reach distances unthinkable for a zigbee network.

Would not buy again

Bought by mistake. Cannot integrate locally to smart home without paying 10 euros a year for a cloud based solution. The zigbee based ones, which I meant to buy, are locally accessible from my Tasmota gateway.

Please note that DW2 wifi doesn't support DIY mode function, you can check all the DIY mode supported devices on our website:https://sonoff.tech/diy-developer/#eWeLink-Mode-and-DIY-Mode

Se conecta a la app de ewelink, pero seguidamente se queda offline y no hay manera de que conecte

Works well

Have them on all my farm gates. Works well over a 5 acre area with a single access point. Only downside is gap distance but by replacing with super magnets I get 1” range

Handy tool

Works well for what I need. I had to temporarily set my router to b/g to connect, set it back to normal after. Very happy
