Getting Started 🚀

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.9 or higher
  • Node.js 14.x or higher
  • PostgreSQL 13 or higher

Installation

  1. Clone the repository
git clone https://github.com/your-username/smartcart.git
cd smartcart
  1. Set up the backend
# Create and activate virtual environment
python -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate  # On Windows: venv\Scripts\activate

# Install dependencies
pip install -r requirements.txt

# Set up database
python manage.py migrate
  1. Set up the frontend
cd app
npm install
  1. Start the development servers
# Backend (in one terminal)
python manage.py runserver

# Frontend (in another terminal)
cd app
npm start
  1. Visit http://localhost:3000 to access the application

Using Docker

# Build and run containers
docker-compose up --build

API Documentation 📚

The API documentation is available at /api/docs when running the server locally. Key endpoints include:

  • POST /api/dishes/analyze: Convert dish name to ingredients
  • GET /api/vendors/compare: Compare prices across vendors
  • POST /api/orders/create: Create a new order
  • GET /api/recommendations: Get personalized recommendations
