Indian writer

Born on 10th August 1977 at Tripunithura in Ernakulam district, Kerala, South India. Father, Madhurima Unnikrishnan, is a famous Kathikan who has graced more than five hundred stages. Mother Maheshwari Menon is a voluntarily retired teacher. Manivarnnan is her one and only brother.

Schooled at J.B.S. School, SNDP School Udayam Perur and St. Joseph's Convent School Tripunithura and Post Graduated in Malayalam from M.G. University.

She started writing right from her school days with her literary taste and vitality. With the unwavering support and encouragement of father and mother, the journey towards writing grew faster. Capitalizing on the creative wisdom and skill that inherited from father, continued literary career.

Presented stories on behalf of various academies at literary conferences in abroad and has represented as a Malayalam writer in Malayalam writers' meetings organized by Sahitya Akademi in Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Hubli, Trichy, Bhopal and Arab Nadu.

Latalakshmi's much-read and discussed Thirumugal Begum, a novel that won the First C.V. Raman Pillai Award (2019 - 2020), has been translated into English, Hindi and Tamil languages. It was from the Jnanpeeth winner of Malayalam M. T Vasudevan Nair, received the C.V. Raman Pillai Award for the novel Thirumugal Begum.

The Chembarathi collection of short stories has received the Erumeli Parameswaran Pillai Award (2022) and the Kerala Education Council Literary Award (2023).

Silica Short Story Collection has won VT Memorial Trust Award (2012), Anganam Sahitya Award (2013) and Kathapeethm Special Jury Award (2013).

Many articles have already been published in online portals, press and magazines. He has also aired interviews on leading channels about his award-winning works and his literary career.

Long 22 years of teaching career in Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, resigned in 2022 and stayed actively in the literary world. With a distinct style, expression and originality inherent in modern mainstream Malayalam literature, Lathalakshmi is a writer whose name has been deeply imprinted in Malayalam language literature. Like Lathalakshmi, who makes stories philosophical and poetic at the same time, have been observed and appreciated as few among the new generation of Malayalam.
