About

Bedtime Stacking or Bedtime Stack, also known as Bedtime Stacking Trend, refers to a trend and term coined by TikToker @linneaphm in early 2026, which describes the method of bringing objects and amenities such as books, snacks, laptops, tablets and journals with the intent of staying in bed and getting as much done as you can before winding down to go to sleep. The trend, which went largely unnoticed until the spring of 2026, received an uptick in interest in early April 2026 following reports from local news outlets and sleep experts claiming that the practice is reportedly detrimental to sleep.

Origin

The trend was started by TikTok[1] user @linneaphm. On January 23rd, 2026, Linnéa Pham posted a video discussing the concept of Bed Stacking. The video received 441,600 views and 110,500 likes in about three months.

@linneaphm The best day to Bedtime Stack is on fridays because we can stay up as long as we want #bedrotting #bedstacking ♬ original sound – Peaceful Melody World

Though the trend had little virality or widespread traction on the platform, it received an article in Newsweek[2] on February 22nd, 2026, claiming that the trend had "surged across TikTok in recent weeks."

Spread

The Bedtime Stack trend saw sporadic posts from TikTokers throughout early 2026, seeing a minor uptick in March of that year as it continued growing.

For instance, on March 16th, 2026, TikToker[7] @amanda.theresa posted a video going over her own bedtime stack, garnering over 23,400 likes and 310 comments in a month.

On March 17th, TikTok[8] user @masielmasiel25 posted a video showcasing her bedtime stack, calling it her "new fav way to wind down" and citing Linnéa Pham as her inspiration, receiving nearly 200 likes in three weeks.

On March 28th, 2026, TikToker[9] @chezmimi99 then uploaded a TikTok discussing her bedtime stack items, garnering over 150 likes in two weeks.

The trend went largely unnoticed until early April 2026, when various local news stations published reports that the "viral" trend was actually harmful for sleep, including outlets like WUSA9,[3] Click On Detroit[4] and WFMZ.[5]

Cosmopolitan[6] also published an article on the trend on April 7th, 2026, titled "'Bedtime Stacking' Is Gen Z's Secret To Doing Everything Without Leaving The Bed," which highlighted these as essential components of a bedtime stack:

  • Essentials: water, fluffy headband, chocolate, or a pair of socks
  • Hobbies: coloring books, journals, tarot cards, or puzzle games
  • Self-care: face masks, hand cream, lip balm, or a scented candle
  • Tech: remotes, headphones, e-reader, or tablet

On April 8th, 2026, the YouTube channel The World from A to Z with Carl Azuz uploaded a video covering how the trend could negatively affect sleep, titled "How 'Bedtime Stacking' May Hurt Sleep," garnering over 34,000 views, 180 likes and 110 comments in two days.
