Aquamacs Emacs is a Mac-native distribution of the powerful Emacs text editor (versions 23+), featuring Plug&Play and a great UI. Aquamacs feels just right on the Mac, interacts well with other apps, while supporting Emacs' keys and Elisp packages.

User Reviews

  • By far the best emacs-user's solution to the OS X desktop dilemma. To compliment this, and avoid 'emacs-pinky', I strongly recommend using System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Modifier Keys... to change your "Caps Lock" back to the ^ Control key it's supposed to be. C-x C-s
  • Very useful and nicely integrated. Aquamacs is one of the best tools I have on my desktop.
