Competitor Canada, the company behind the popular Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, and the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) have signed a three-year partnership agreement regarding the Rock ‘n’ Roll Oasis Montreal Marathon & 1/2 Marathon. STM announces bus service enhancements in three city sectors

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is announcing three service enhancements for several bus lines. As part of the improvements slated for 2017, these will be rolled out starting this summer to improve the customer experience.

As a follow-up to the breakdown in métro service that occurred on Saturday, January 14 on a portion of the Orange line, Société de transport de Montréal is making public an initial progress report on its investigation into the problem found with the negative collector shoes on both MR-73 and AZUR trains.

STM annouces technical trials, as part of City Mobility project for 100% electric buses made in Quebec

During visits to the Montréal métro’s control room and the STM’s bus control centre, Denis Coderre, Mayor of Montréal, Laurent Lessard, Minister of Transport, Sustainable Mobility and Transport Electrification, and Philippe Schnobb, Chairman of the Société de transport de Montréal Board of Directors, announced that technical trials without passengers would begin in early 2017 for Nova Bus’ three fully electric buses on the 36 – Monk line.

Fewer items dropped on the tracks for fewer métro service disruptions

Some 516 items were dropped on the tracks in 2015, stopping métro service for 895 minutes, interfering with the daily commute of thousands of customers. These delays are avoidable and the STM invites all transit users to change their habits to prevent such events from happening.

2017 Budget: a firm commitment that upholds the shift in direction

Together, the mayor of Montréal, Denis Coderre, the chairman of the STM board of directors, Philippe Schnobb, and STM’s chief executive officer, Luc Tremblay, presented the 2017 budget for the STM, set at $1.405 B, and showing current expenses up by only 0.6% over last year.

STM extends 25- Angus bus line to Préfontaine métro station

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) today announced that the 25 – Angus bus line would be extended to Préfontaine station on weekdays starting next August 29. The purpose of the initiative is to improve transit service in Rosemont – La-Petite-Patrie borough and mainly targets Technopôle Angus workers as well as residents in the Angus area.

Road works: STM significantly increases service for fall school term

The AMT and STM unveil the honorary committee of the UITP Global Public Transport Summit – Montréal 2017

Conducted in fall 2013, the survey of 78,831 households paints a portrait of the daily comings and goings of Greater Montréal area residents and includes all modes of transportation. The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and its partners Bell, Rogers, TELUS and Videotron today announced that they have turned on a wireless network along a stretch of the Montréal metro. The green line segment, which runs through the downtown area between the Guy-Concordia and Saint-Laurent stations, is now equipped with leading edge mobile technology, such as 3G, 4G and 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution). Customers of all four wireless providers will be able to browse the Internet, watch videos, listen to streamed music, make and receive calls and so much more, directly from within the metro cars and throughout the tunnels and stations. YELLOW METRO LINE: SECOND PHASE OF WEEKEND CLOSINGS FROM SEPTEMBER 13 TO DECEMBER 21

The STM is set to begin the second phase of work during which the métro’s Yellow line is shut down on weekends while repairs continue on the tunnel’s ceiling. The Yellow line will therefore be completely closed on Saturdays and Sundays from September 13 to December 21, as well as on Thanksgiving Monday, October 13. However, the line will be kept in service for the Montréal Marathon, during the September 27-28 weekend.

UPCOMING OPENING OF MUHC: WORK REQUIRED AT VENDÔME STATION

In preparation for the opening of the McGill University Medical Centre (MUHC), Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will undertake construction work at Vendôme métro station in October to improve its passenger capacity and flow in order to meet an increase in ridership expected to reach 38% by 2016. Some 5.6 million transit users passed through this station in 2013, roughly 19,000 per weekday.

Extension of service points for the homeless : business, social, medical and cultural communities join forces to fight homelessness at five metro stations

Bombardier, the Makivik Corporation, the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles and the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux, is proud to announce the expansion of the first service point for the homeless to five downtown metro stations for a three-year period.

Moving toward electrification! STM to test a fully electric standard bus from China

As part of a technology assessment project carried out with the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO), today, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will begin testing a fully electric bus on loan from Chinese firm BYD (Build Your Dreams). The standard-size vehicle features distinctive outside markings highlighting the "green" benefits of its technology. Road testing on the streets of Montréal is expected to last until April 2014.

STM opens reserved lane for buses and taxis on boulevard Côte-Vertu

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) has opened a new reserved lane on boulevard Côte-Vertu, used by bus lines 121, 174, 177, 196, 213, 216, 225, 470 and 475, which handle nearly 30,000 passenger rides per average weekday. The lane is reserved for buses and taxis, Monday to Friday, from 6:30 to 9 a.m. and from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in both directions.

Work on the métro’s Yellow line: shutdowns planned for 25 weekends in 2014

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will undertake work in 2014 to repair the concrete on the vaulted ceiling of the Yellow line tunnel, requiring a full service shutdown over 25 weekends in spring and fall. Mitigating measures are being planned to make transportation as easy as possible for customers.

Repairs to the Snowdon station - One more step toward universal accessibility in the métro system
