Bad experience As a real estate agent

As a real estate agent, I spent $900 to receive leads for 2 zipcodes during 6 months. After one month of zero leads, I got one. I asked to be reimbursed and was ignored.

Good news, they reimbursed me in full.

Beware of SOLD.com fake leads

Beware of SOLD.COM fake leads

They may have had a legitimate lead offering in years past, but the past 12 months and $thousands has revealed to me one of the biggest scams on real estate agents that is still in business and still perpetuating its racket.

They present their product as referrals that request a market valuation or help obtaining a cash buyer from an agent. Many of the leads I could not reach after several attempts over weeks. Okay, not unusual. Of the 50-60% of leads I did reach on the phone, ALL OF THEM, except one, stated they have no plans or interest in selling for years to come and had no idea why I would be calling them. The one contact who was looking at selling clearly explained that she was in no way interested in having an agent reach out to her and never clicked a thing on the internet because she had always planned to hire a long-time friend to seller her house. After she listed with that friend agent a month later, SOLD.com emailed me a shame-on-you email and encouraged me to be more vigilant in the future. Epitome of insult to injury.

I learned after the first 10 or so contacts that most of the contacts SOLD.com delivers as referrals or leads are just people identified as likely homeowners and SOLD.com scrapes the internet for their phone and email. Maybe a few of them happened to be searching for homes or researching home values on websites SOLD owns or is partnered with and provides SOLD their cookie data. Sold.com gleans what they can from cookies and skip traces the rest of their contact info and packages it as a "referral".

They call their product a referral, but it's not even a lead because the person didn't request contact or services (raise their hand) from an agent. Most of them just happen to own a home. A few of them just happen to be online maybe researching home values, have their contact info embedded in a cookie, and elsewhere published online, and then they get an unsuspecting call from SOLD's partner agent for their city.

Again, some of the folks I talked to had just recently bought their home and had no idea how I could be calling about help with their home's value, because they have no plans to move for many years from now, and they haven't been on the internet for many months researching real estate.

SOLD.com claims each piece of contact information is verified with a bold green "verified" badge next to the homeowners name, address, and phone number. One of the packaged garbage contact data sets was the name of a 9-year-old boy as the verified homeowner, the phone number of the homeowner's live-in boyfriend (the father of that boy) as the verified homeowner's phone number, and the address of a home the real homeowner that the boyfriend said just bought two years ago and plans to live in for years to come.

Out of over maybe 20 so-called referrals over about 4 months, I was able to reach maybe 9 or 10 after several attempts. NOT ONE said they filled out a request form or clicked something online, and only one of those, a FSBO lead (who swore she never clicked a thing and was already in discussion with a flat fee brokerage), had intention of selling.

One of the contacts I actually know. She lives a few blocks from me. She works in the IT department with the school district. She assured me that neither she nor her husband have done anything on the internet about real estate for months. They plan to live in the home until she retires, 7 years from now, and maybe longer.

What a dispicable scam. Needless to say, I will be contacting my credit card company's fraud department to get my money back.

These leads are not even close to be true leads. Not only do the leads not want to sell, but 90% have not lived at the address provided for over 10 years. 95% of the emails or phone numbers do not belong to the address.

Thanks for sharing Beth. It looks like you have signed two listing agreements through the platform and one closing so far. I show your account still active with us (free, pay at closing account), did you want to keep that active? Want to make sure we only send you referrals, if you want them

This website STINKS to be perfectly…

This website STINKS to be perfectly HONEST and BLUNT. If you don't pay them a fortune for certain of their programs you will get no REFERRALS and nothing and waste a lot of time and effort for that purpose. Their ridiculous AI phone system is the worst anywhere. It's angering and frustrating to use with very poor connectivity and communication. No person actually answers the phone in this rinkidink company and you have to wait forever to get a call back, which is thoroughly inconvenient and STUPID for a company that claims to offer a referral service. DON'T USE THEM. THEY ARE A JOKE!!!
And to make matters even worse, those referrals they allege they are sending you on your account are totally unretrievable. No account links to any of the referrals they claim they are sending you. The on-line account software is as bad and poor quality as everything else about this idiotic company. It's like dealing with a child and NOT a professional company.

We’re genuinely sorry to hear that you’re frustrated. We do want to clarify a few important facts for accuracy.
• Your account was created less than 48 hours ago.
• You are currently on a free account and have not paid for any programs or services.
• Our referral model is pay-at-close — agents are not required to “pay a fortune” to receive referrals. Many agents participate successfully without upfront costs.
• Because the account has only been active for two days, no referrals have been issued yet to you, so you have not even been given an opportunity to experience our referral process (or quality) or platform in action.

Within 24 hours of signing up, you spoke directly with a member of our human support team. In fact, there have been multiple interactions with our team during your first 48 hours. We take support seriously and make every effort to respond promptly and professionally.

We understand that new systems can sometimes take adjustment, but labeling the entire company based on less than two days of use — on a free account — does not accurately reflect how our platform operates.

We work hard to provide value to agents, and many of our partners have built successful businesses through our referrals. Results take time, consistency, and participation in the program.

Given your dissatisfaction, we have deactivated the account for now to prevent further frustration. If you would like to give the service a fair opportunity and allow our team to walk you through how referrals are delivered and tracked inside the dashboard, we would be happy to reactivate your free account and assist.

We truly wish you success in your business.

Well...

Well.... I paid you your fee and yet you sent me to collections without any form of notice.

We’re truly sorry for the frustration this caused. We understand how upsetting it must have felt to receive a collections notice.

While we did receive an ACH payment around the time this referral closed, it came from the brokerage without any remittance details, property address, or agent reference. Because of that, we had no way to connect the payment to your specific transaction. We followed up when we couldn’t match the payment but unfortunately didn’t receive a response, and with no identifiable record tying the funds to this referral, the account was ultimately sent to collections.

As soon as we were able to connect and clarify what happened, we immediately canceled the collection effort.

This was a breakdown in communication, and we sincerely apologize for the stress it caused. We value our agent partners and appreciate the opportunity to resolve it quickly once we reconnected.

Jean Holm did an amazing job selling my short-term rental in Kyle, TX. The entire process was smooth, stress-free, and well organized from start to finish. She was always responsive, professional, and truly had my best interest in mind. She also went above and beyond by coordinating the sale of the home’s contents, which made everything even easier for me.

I’m very grateful for her hard work and dedication. If you’re looking for a reliable and caring agent, I highly recommend Jean!

To much of a fee!

This was one of the longest deals that I ever worked. I then ended up payment sold.com way to much for them making 1 phone call.

Once under contract, you end up getting harassed by their team even when you update THEIR portal with updates to closing dates.

Hey Chris,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your experience felt frustrating, and we appreciate the opportunity to provide some clarity.

While it may appear on the agent side that a single call led to this appointment, this particular homeowner first came to SOLD.com back in 2021. Over the course of several years, our team made multiple outreach attempts and ran a long-term nurture process — including repeated calls and dozens of emails — to build trust and stay engaged until the seller was truly ready to move forward. That ongoing effort is ultimately what led to the July 2024 appointment being set for you.

We also understand that this transaction took longer than expected to reach the finish line. In our experience, that’s not uncommon — many sellers require significant time before listing, and a large part of our value is staying consistent and present so our agents are in position when the seller is finally ready.

Regarding follow-up on the referral fee, we apologize if this felt excessive. Unfortunately, because referral fees are success-based and only due at closing, we do need to be diligent in tracking transactions to ensure accuracy and fairness across our agent network. That said, your feedback on how this communication felt is noted.

We do want to acknowledge that you’ve successfully closed two transactions through SOLD.com referrals and currently have additional opportunities in your pipeline. That said, if the program isn’t a fit for you moving forward, we completely understand. Your account is on our free, pay-at-closing platform, and we’re happy to remove you at any time upon request. You can reach us directly at agentnetwork@sold.com, and we’ll take care of it promptly.

We appreciate you working with us and wish you continued success, whichever path you choose.
