Xray_OS

Last Update: 2026-04-02 18:02 UTC

Xray_OS is an Arch-based Linux distribution focused on innovation, creativity, usability and software development. It comes with KDE Plasma as its preferred desktop. Some of the other interesting features of the distribution include a custom system installer, a welcome application called Tolitica with some useful options, smart GPU detection which removes unused drivers during installation, an AUR helper for downloading and building software packages on the fly, and original wallpapers created specifically for Xray_OS.

Table Notes and Explanations

(Please refer to the table below.)
  • Select view:
  • To compare the software in this project to the software available in other distributions, please see our Compare Packages page.
  • Notes: In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table. For indication about the GNOME version, please check the "nautilus" and "gnome-shell" packages. The Apache web server is listed as "httpd" and the Linux kernel is listed as "linux". The KDE desktop is represented by the "plasma-desktop" package and the Xfce desktop by the "xfdesktop" package.
  • Colour scheme: green text = latest stable version, red text = development or beta version. The function determining beta versions is not 100% reliable due to a wide variety of versioning schemes.

It is really an interesting proposal, though I see that their tools need a little bit of polish, though the rest of the system is mostly setup properly. The installer works good, is not that intuitive but it does its job and the Tolitica Assistant could use some refinement but is also working relatively well.

There should be more documentation, there is some available but only regarding general aspects about how everything works, the technical part of the documentation is lacking quite a bit, that doesn't meant is not there but is lacking some things, though for a solo Developer doing all of this I quite understand why some of this things might not be ready yet.

The distro is fast, not the fastest one, but is definitely a very fast version of Arch, is a good proposal in general as a system, it could always get better and better.
