Last week in my tutoring session, I was breaking down Method statements! Following on from the first week where we identified sources of information, we then looked at what to pull from those to build the method statement. I explained how this process helps in project planning and the relationship to the programme. This week we look at programmes. #ConstructionPlanning #Tutoring #Construction #MethodStatement

Yesterday I had the pleasure of delivering a planning-focused session designed to build confidence and clarity around programme management and time control for learners working towards becoming chartered. We covered the fundamentals that underpin effective project planning, including: • Just-in-Time • Gantt charts • Critical Path • Monitoring & Controlling • Time-Risk Analysis The session focused on practical understanding; not just what these tools are, but why they matter, how they link together, and how they support better decision-making on live projects. Strong planning is about people and behaviours. The tools we use can assist us but it isn’t all just charts and programmes. It’s deeper than that - it’s human! If you’re looking to strengthen planning capability within your team or organisation, this is exactly the kind of conversation worth investing time in. 🍃 Okaforia Ltd Built-In Joy. Thoughtful Planning.

I’m back at it after the Christmas break. Rested, refocused, and ready for the year ahead. I’m looking forward to continuing work with our collaborators and building new connections throughout 2026. Let’s connect and see what we can build together. #HappyNewYear #Collaboration #PeojectManagement #Construction

As we head into the Christmas period, I’ll be a little quieter on here for a short while. I want to wish everyone a restorative break; whether that looks like time with loved ones, time alone, or simply a pause from the usual pace. This season can be full of warmth and joy for some, and more complicated for others, so I hope wherever you find yourself that there’s space for rest, kindness, and at least a small moment of light. Thank you to my clients, collaborators, and wider network for your support and engagement throughout the year. Wishing you a peaceful Christmas and a thoughtful end to 2025. I’m now out of office until 5th January 2026. ~Anne #MerryChristmas #FestiveWishes

At Okaforia Ltd, I believe that growth begins with clarity, honest reflection, and purposeful action; which is why I’m sharing my latest five-star book review of Unf*ck Yourself: Get Out of Your Head and Into Your Life by Gary John Bishop. This is a short, sharp and refreshingly direct guide to personal development. There’s no fluff, no jargon; just straight-talking insight about taking ownership of your choices, your mindset, and your forward momentum. What stood out most was Bishop’s ability to take big, familiar self-development themes and distill them into simple, actionable ideas. Three messages in particular resonated: 🔹 Take action: Real change happens when our behaviour changes. 🔹 The power of willing: Not just “What do I want?” but “What am I willing to do — and unwilling to accept?” 🔹 Plan for victory, learn from defeat: Future-focused, intentional, and grounded. One quote that really stayed with me: “People spend their lives waiting on the cavalry, all the while never realising they are the cavalry.” It’s a powerful reminder that accountability isn’t a burden: it’s an opportunity. And it aligns fully with the work I do at Okaforia: supporting organisations and individuals to build clarity, confidence, and sustainable action. If you’re looking for a practical, accessible mindset reset; whether you’re new to personal development or need a focused refresher, this is a great place to start. 📄 You can read the full one-page review here: https://lnkd.in/ejQkgpkA 📚 One-sentence takeaway: A frank, no-nonsense guide that reminds you that you, not the cavalry, are the one who creates change. What are you reading that’s shaping your thinking this month? #ProfessionalDevelopment #Leadership #Mindset #ContinuousImprovement #Okaforia #BookReview #SelfDevelopment #TakingAction

Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting Glasgow Caledonian University to deliver a guest lecture on the Project Management module. I delivered a session on construction planning. Breaking it down to the basics I taught them how to think about planning a construction project using the simple, everyday example of making a cup of tea. Planning doesn’t have to be complicated. The principles are the same whether you’re building a skyscraper or boiling a kettle: ✅ Define your steps ✅ Sequence the order ✅ Allocate resources ✅ Manage risks (yes, even running out of teabags!) It was a joy to see the students engage with the exercise and start to connect project planning theory to real-world practice. It wasn’t long before I was being ‘bribed’ by imaginary biscuits 🤣 A huge thank you to the university for having me. I always leave inspired by the next generation of construction professionals. #GCU #Planning #BuiltEnvironment #GuestLecture #ProjectManagement
