I always tell our execs and managers: "You are the ceiling for AI usage in your team." If you do not know what's possible, it is harder for you as a leader to enforce AI in your teams. You also don't know what is an unacceptable workflow now that AI has advanced so much, especially in the past few months. Jaclyn Mack, our VP People + Talent, is one of the best examples of this. She is deep in Claude Code and has built integrations into our Greenhouse to create helpful forecasting and reporting for hiring managers. Her team has started automating so many things from employee onboarding, to an HR GPT, to weekly founder reporting for priority roles.

Mistakes I see first-time hiring managers make at startups: -- Recruiting without a full calendar If you're in a hiring push and you do not have back-to-back interviews all day, you're dragging out your process. Hiring is a pipeline game. You need to be aggressively sourcing and aggressively moving strong candidates through. The higher quality your pipeline and the larger your pipeline, the more likely you are to close the role and the faster you will close it. -- Not viewing time as a limited resource Booking candidates just to book candidates is not a good use of time. When engineers are interviewing, they are not coding. There are real business tradeoffs to having the team in back-to-back interviews. You need to make sure you are only passing forward candidates that are worth it. -- Not sourcing As Andy Grove said, the responsibility of a manager is to collect data and make decisions. Sourcing is one of the best ways to collect that data. You start to see which companies produce great talent and the patterns in their backgrounds. You form opinions on what experience is actually required and what you can take a bet on. -- Not owning their own recruiting process Recruiters should be an accelerant for a hiring manager's recruiting process, not the owners. You should continuously review your pipeline, your process, the job description, and the hiring profile. If you are not owning your own hiring pipeline, you are not in control of your destiny. Happy recruiting. :)

At Merge, we build the infra layer that powers our customers' products with hundreds of agentic tools and customer-facing integrations without the pain of having to build each one individually. It's powerful infrastructure and our customers rely on it. But that’s not my favorite part about Merge – it’s the people I get to work with day in and day out. Merge is filled with really smart, hard working, fun and genuinely humble people with a one-team mindset. We want to win by making our customers successful! We’re looking to grow the team and are hiring a Technical Support Engineer in Berlin. We want someone who genuinely loves solving real-world problems for customers. 🇩🇪 You won’t just be answering tickets. You're debugging API edge cases, becoming an expert in how dozens of third-party systems behave, and being the person developers actually trust when something's wrong. We're looking for someone who: 🤓 Gets excited about solving complex API problems 📖 Can explain technical concepts clearly to developers and non-technical stakeholders alike 🇩🇪 Wants to be based in Berlin and work closely with a growing team Andrei Resetnic Lev Chekmarov Matheus Schonarth Pranav Revankar Weoy Howe Ang If you've worked in technical support, solutions engineering, or a developer-facing role and you want to work on infrastructure that powers real products, let's talk. The LLM layer is fragmenting faster than SaaS ever did. Every team is stitching together provider SDKs, routing logic, cost controls, and audit logs. It’s brittle, and when a provider fails, your features go with it. Today that ends. Meet Merge Gateway, the unified control plane built on the same expertise thousands of companies already trust Merge for. - Instant access to every model - Smart routing + automatic fallback that never drops - Cost guardrails that actually save money and scale usage - Full visibility, audit logs, and enterprise security This is the next step in our vision for AI infrastructure. Gateway is opening up with *free* credits for anyone who wants to try it. https://lnkd.in/eCiafUvy Like this post + comment “Gateway” and I’ll personally double your credits. :)
