Great self-care/mental health tool

I have downloaded (& forgotten about) dozens of different apps promising to help me prioritize self-care & tackle belief systems or behaviors that are ultimately preventing me from being my “best self.” Bonus points if they’re aesthetically pleasing, with an anthropomorphized mascot cheering me on. I have only been using Ahead for a few days, so I won’t try to speak to it’s long term efficacy, but I do think that there’s value making a small commitment to yourself each day to any type of “self”-focused task is a good way to build healthier habits & routines that allow us to be more aware of our growth/progress, in addition to learning ways to modify our thoughts/behaviors. Whether this is via an app, or pen & paper, developing a daily routine of checking in/reflecting about how you’re feeling or focusing on simple ways to adjust our attitudes can have a profound impact on mood & overall mental health, & doesn’t require spending hours on a chaise spilling childhood traumas to a therapist - 5 days with an encouraging blob (or whatever mascot your app of choice uses) can be adequate! Regarding the Ahead app specifically, I like the smooth & interactive interface, & the control you as a user have in terms of identifying & selecting larger goals for yourself, as well as smaller daily tasks on your way to reaching those goals. I have yet to encounter any issues with the app, but I haven’t fully explored all of the features yet, so take this review with a grain of salt!
Unlock your emotional intelligence

I ran into this account on Instagram. I was hesitant to begin. I thought to myself how will this app help. However, I gave it a try and within the first 15 minutes I found it extremely helpful. What I love the most about this app is providing that psycho education of how our brain works, patterns of behaviors and communication that we have and what I LOVE the most is the badges we get. *sarcastic tone* the first one I received was control and the other warden! I noticed myself roll my eyes! But you know what , that’s true. I started to reflected on communication with family. I used to be a very calm person and lately more reactive and this app put it into perspective the stress of work and things. I know these stuff also! I’m a therapist! At times we are unable to see our red flag and this helped me out it into perspective. I’ve only done 15 minutes on the app. This app allows you do set daily goals, allows you to focus on what you want and will also pick up on patterns and bring to your awareness. I encourage you,Take what it tells you and see it from a positive perspective and set how goals for yourself . I love this app. I’m going to recommend it to my family and friends and at work for my clients
A Happy Accident

So, I won’t lie I did initially download this app because of their course on procrastination. I initially wanted to do a free trial, but somehow ended up getting the subscription for the year. At first I was upset, but things came up life that resulted in me using this app more and more. For instance there was a course on heart break. I know it seems silly but dealing with that change in my life probably would’ve been harder without that course. Don’t get me wrong it’s not going to stop the sadness or take away the hard work that is involved in recovering from a break up, but it provides valuable insights that make you take a step back and say , “ Oh what I’m going through is normal” I think my biggest take away from all this is you’re only going get as much as you put in. The Ahead team has given its users wonderful resources and techniques, but it won’t do any good without consistency and practice. There are options to book mark specific passages in case you need the reminder. I’d highly recommend logging and tracking emotional triggers and having a chat with the AI in order to gain insights. All in all definitely a stellar app in the mental wellness sector and is worth a try.
