This year, Creative Commons marks 25 years of powering the world’s sharing—a quarter century of building the legal, technical, and social infrastructure that enables open knowledge, creativity, and collaboration worldwide. Today, as artificial intelligence reshapes how we create, connect, and communicate, a new challenge faces us: how to keep the internet human and reclaim humanity in our digital future.

Through the rest of the year, we will be reflecting on CC’s legacy and envisioning the next 25 years through events, storytelling, community activities, and more. We invite you to celebrate with us—and to help shape the next chapter of the commons.

To commemorate our anniversary, CC is creating a zine featuring submissions from the CC community! The theme is “Remix is resistance,” and it will feature creative works that reflect how remix, reuse, adaptation, and sharing challenge power, build community, preserve culture, and imagine more just futures.
