EU Game Tools
01.09.2004 - 31.12.2007
Research funding project
The GameTools Project (GTP) is an EU project from the 6th framework programme, that will create next generation realtime 3D libraries, pushing the envelope in the fields of global illumination, geometry/plants and visibility. The libraries will help European game developers and companies from related fields to write leading edge computer games / 3D-applications. To achieve this goal the GameTools Project brings together computer graphic experts from universities in Austria, France, Hungary and Spain with European industrial partners. The libraries will be created in close cooperation with these partners, who will then incorporate the result into their products. In addition to the core GameTools members, additional industrial partners will have preliminary access to the technology by becoming members of the GTP Special Interest group. The GTP libraries will be developed for next generation PC hardware, with videogame technology (PS2, XBox, PS3, XBox2) planned as a second hardware platform.
