One problem. But it's a big one. It stops playing if you don't keep the app open on top. so if you switch to something else or turn the screen off it plays for around 60 seconds and then just pauses itself. I can't find a setting for this. It's extremely annoying. Almost every app I have can keep running without the screen up or in the background. And every app I have where that would be normal does. You know, media apps. It's day one and I may have to get a refund on this.

Yes. Some users report this issue on some Android device. Some report that allow background running fix it , some report it not help at all. We are working and identifying the root cause of this issue.

the speech play back is so choppy!! I wanted it to read my books that have no audible and be able to vary the voices but it is horribly annoying it will read a few words and then hesitate before finishing the sentence. I have looked to see if there is any way to fix this in the app but can't find anything. I wish I had not paid for this I had been so hopeful that this app would work.

First, it requires you to sign in. Then it asks you to complete a survey about your reading habits with inadequate answers. Then it shows you a button labeled "Unlook Unlimited" (sic) to pay for a premium subscription at a price that it says will increase soon (the non-discounted price would be about $100 per year or $2 per week). The interface seems OK, but this is not what I'm looking for. My phone is more than capable of handling TTS offline. Why am I logging in or paying for a subscription?
