All the lovely staff were so friendly and obliging throughout our comfortable stay and even extended our checkout to noon when we were worried about not being able to make it back in time from the hot air balloon spectacular (a must visit!). We ended up able to make it for 10am checkout but the peace of mind was priceless during the early morning jaunt as it was our last chance to catch it for the trip. Shall return to stay whenever we are back in Canberra. Spacious and huge dining table with fully equipped kitchen. Walking distance to neighborhood centre for food yet quiet environment. Secured basement parking with shutter that is operated by the staff from 9pm to 6am. Easy assess to lift.

FAQs about hotels in Canberra

Culture, Politics and Military Mix

A popular quiz question is: what’s the capital of Australia? If you answered Sydney or Melbourne then it’s time to discover the real answer – Canberra. With Parliament House at its core, Canberra fans out across both sides of Lake Burley Griffin to reveal a diverse mix of museums, restaurants and bars filled with curious tourists, political persons and public servants.

Canberra was created as a solution to Australia’s 2 largest cities squabbling over the right to become the national capital. The Limestone Plains region in New South Wales was chosen as the site for present day Canberra. It was a good choice for nature lovers as it is surrounded by bushland, mountain ranges and, more recently, wineries.

The National Gallery, National Museum and National Library of Australia highlight Canberra’s cultural riches. Other notable institutions to visit are the High Court of Australia and the National Film and Sound Archive that stockpiles a collection of Australia’s early radio, television and film history.

The military also plays a significant role here with many training facilities for the army such as the Australian Defence Force Academy. An unforgettable experience is attending the Anzac Day Dawn service at The Australian War Memorial.

Australia’s cultural capital with a political punch has many hotels, motels and apartments on Booking.com for that city trip, business jaunt or family holiday.

THE MUSEUM GUYS!

THE MUSEUM GUYS! all of them, fantastic, especially the War Memorial for a different perspectives of all the stages of proceedings within the conflicts, and the city centre is lovely on a weekend, not too hectic but the community comes out! Some incredibly nice lookout points too!

The Australian War Memorial is absolutely exceptional.

The Australian War Memorial is absolutely exceptional. Join a free tour. Give yourself a day here. The free tour of Arthur Boyd's Tapestry display was wonderful and is worth visiting. A Parliament House visit is a must. Walked Anzac Parade, drove up Mount Ainslie Lookout and went on a free tour of Royal Australian Mint. All worth a visit.

Canberra was a wonderful surprise! We really enjoyed our visit — there was so much to see and do, especially the museums and historical attractions. We have visited Canberra several times before but still want to return more and more. Those wide green streets, kangaroos on the lawns of War Memorial is something remarkable and amazing. You wouldn't be bored there, a lot of places to visit that connected with history, government and the life in Australia. Definitely visit Questacon, your kids will spend there all day trying science in amazingly funny way. Overall, highly recommend to visit.

The plethora of roundabouts can be a challenge, but I love Canberra! It's clean; feels very safe (compared to Victoria); no signs of homeless people in tents (yet); generally only takes 15 mins to get anywhere. Great restaurant choices. Loved the Go Karting. I love our city built on our Federation.

I stayed for 4 nights, I wished a stayed for a few more days, but I like to take my time. Everything was so close. If you can book meal places a head of time specially on weekends. I had a great time and will be going back, this time in warmer weather. There is so much to see culturally politically scientifically.

I really like this hotel, quite even it is in the city center. It's close to canberra center (mall) and lot of restaurants around and bar. Walkable to Alinga tram station, CMAG and other tourist spot can be visited by bus, there's bus station in front of this hotel. The room is so clean, and the mini kitchen is equipped with things you need to cook if you're on a budget. Also, we came so early around 11am and they let us checked in without additional cost. Thank you!

Room was clean and very big. Bathroom very spacious. Sheets and carpet were very clean. Loved that this hotel had their own rooftop bar and pool. Hotel was very well-located, only a short walk to Lonsdale street which has loads of cafes, shops and restaurants. Free parking on site was a plus!
