Situated on the Gulf of Finland, a popular day trip is by boat to Helsinki. With a location so close to the water, the sandy beaches are a popular summer destination for locals and visitors alike. In the winter the beauty of buildings such as the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral is hard to beat. People who know a little about Europe are likely to be...
People who know a little about Europe are likely to be impressed by Tallinn. Its history spans medieval trade leagues, various kingdoms and the turmoil of the last century: independence followed by communism, then fascism and so on. Of course Estonia is now an EU and Nato member, thus more firmly planted in "The West".
I strongly recommend a guided walking tour of the Old Town as a starter. If you are curious about the history and culture of Estonia, you will surely learn a lot. You will see that the old town is packed with restaurants and coffee shops that provide great variety.
Getting around on foot is easy enough, but note that the charming cobblestoned streets are not as easy to navigate as straight, paved sidewalks. You may choose whichever excursions suit your tastes; Booking.com will be sure to offer you several of them (I mentioned the guided tour, which was great).

Our visit was brief, but during two days we managed to explore, among other things, the Hellemann Tower and the city walls, St. Catherine’s Passage, the Nigul Museum, and the KGB Museum’s prison cells. All of them were very impressive places to visit. There is still plenty left to explore in Tallinn.

We really enjoyed walking around Tallinn, so much to see in & around the Old Town. Sea plane museum is definitely worth checking out. Did an all day tour of Lahemaa National Park, which included a lovely meal at a local restaurant featuring Estonian cuisine. We had a meal at the local square which was good but found better eating experiences close by eg. at the markets. Overall a fantastic time and would do it again in a heart beat.

We had 3 nights in Tallinn. 1 and a half days in Tallinn and a day trip to Helsinki (Viking Ferries). Loved the city, old town as well further afield. Lots to do and price was ok. Really surprised at how good the level of English is and it's developing as a city (better than Helsinki and Riga in my opinion)

In Tallinn just like in Riga or Vilnius, what stroke me the most was how people working in tourism industry could be rude with foreigners. There is room for improvement when it comes to customer service culture, that is for sure !

Stayed for 2 nights near Viru Gate. Highly recommend Old Tallinn! It is like stepping back in time into a fairy tale! Highly walkable. No bad photos. Tellivitsky is close and that is also interesting to see. Very safe. Very clean. Would definitely go back.

A perfect location in old town, can I rave too much. The staff were charming particularly the receptionists, so accommodating. The room was spacious, comfy mattress, good shower. Breakfast a delicious array of Estonian and continental choices. And it has impressive art deco features. We would definitely choose Hestia Hotel Baron again.

Everything was great! Working space loto of space to work remotly, stuff super kind, modern design, free parking place next to hotel, shower excelent, atmosphere great. I love this hotel…… and the price I think it is too cheap for what You get for it.
I have been in lot of hotels all around the world, but this is one of the best choices.
