AustraliaThe communication with the owner was so helpful, especially as I had no idea what to expect in the town. He offered to pick me up from the bus stop however, it is only about a three minute walk from the bus stop to the hotel. Right on the same road. The whole town is absolutely gorgeous and the hotel building was no exception. I could tell that the owner had spent significant time and thought to make it so beautifully french. When you walk in, it is to a lovely sitting area where guests can gather and share the homecooked breakfast together. The owner also owns a restaurant nearby so his 'home' cooking is pretty amazing. A great room, with a beautiful bathroom and just so thoughtfully decorated. It was a lovely space to be in. I also did go to the restaurant for lunch, Les Chimeres. The atmosphere and the food were super. As I have just bought a holiday house here, the owner has also gone out of his way to assist me with local information. I overheard him giving some practical tips to some other guests. It's the place to stay if you want to enjoy peace and beauty right on your door step.

United KingdomNot a piece of Swedish furniture in sight! A refreshingly simple and un-modernised little hotel in the middle of a gorgeous old town, in a historic building. Rooms are plain but perfectly fine with nice white cotton bedding. Lovely breakfast served at our table with fresh coffee in a jug with a basket of bread and croissants. Charming welcome from the owners. A one off, which I hope will retain a touch of the 1980's.

A lovely boutique hotel set in a delightful location. Breakfast was excellent and Newton, the chocolate lab, was a well-behaved and pleasant co-host. Breakfast was excellent.

The is a large city.
The is a large city. We consentrated on the old part of the town and enjoyed seeing what was available. We don't think it warrants more that a couple of days but iis a good stop over place on-route to somewhere else.

Everything about the hotel, the staff, the room, the pool and the cleanliness was excellent, but no bar or dining facilities on a Sunday night is very disappointing when your hungry and tired after an 8 hour drive!

A fairly large town with more shops than usually found in France. Had a very pleasant walk around the town a varied range of houses and an unusual war memorial. Super market located near town centre. Watch out for the one way streets.

Sadly we only made an overnight stay so saw only a limited amount of the town. Its riverside walks looked beautiful and the old buildings interesting. Much more to xplore in this charming town i am sure.

A lovely town which is easy to walk around, no steep hills. A good choice of bars and restaurants. The bars offer the choice in the evenings to enjoy a quiet drink or join in with a lively atmosphere at a bar around a pretty square.

Fabulous suburb of Chateauroux, lots to do. Excellent motorway links. Perfect for stopover as some hotels are less than 1 km from a main interchange.

This was a 4-star hotel so you can expect a certain level of comfort and facilities. It is essentially a corporate hotel I would say, so used primarily during the week by business people. The building had an interesting history as a cigarette factory, although apart from a few murals in the room and hotel public areas which referenced this history, the decor was modern and from the inside it was not necessarily obvious that this was a building from the 1800s. It was a good location for us for an overnight on our trip back to the UK from Provence, The hotel is centrally situated and has secure, paid parking opposite the hotel. The food for dinner was satisfactory and served very rapidly. The staff were friendly and efficient.

It is great for an overnight stop on the way north or south with a fabulous restaurant. Perhaps book directly and you might get a better room. Didn’t get a chance to use the swimming pool or outdoor terrace as weather bad but a great upgrade from our last visit. Would go back when we be ttravel this route. Staff great, friendly and speak English.
