We only had one nights stay, which was a shame. we would have loved to have stayed longer. Room wasnt large but well designed. It's super clean and comfortable, and we had a great nights sleep. The staff were exceptional, so helpful, many thanks. Breakfast was superb, wow. Close to train station (make sure you have the right one, as there are 2 stations). Vigo is great and would totally recommend this hotel.

Absolute luxury with amazing views. A perfect end to our camino. Wish we had have booked an extra night so we could have appreciated it more when we weren't so tired. Stunning infinity pool overlooking a beautiful beach. Well worth spending the extra money after a week of much cheaper hotels on our walk.

FAQs about hotels in Galicia

Historic and Holy

A region of lush landscapes, countless coves and beautiful beaches, Galicia is the westernmost part of Spain. Long admired, it boasts incredible reminders of its first settlers – the Romans.

Lugo is the world’s only city entirely surrounded by Roman walls, and quite a sight they are. On a rocky promontory in A Coruña, the Tower of Hercules is a working Roman lighthouse. Considered the world’s oldest, it overlooks one of the region’s ‘rias altas’ – coastal inlets flanked by high cliffs.

Sheltered in another inlet is the port of Ferrol, and Viveiro around the coast has a lovely beach nestled below green hills. Another sandy beach protected by zig-zag cliffs is Ribadeo, on the Asturias border.

The most famous Galicia attraction is the capital Santiago de Compostela whose huge cathedral, firmly on the pilgrim route, is Christianity’s 3rd most important. Unsurprisingly, the city has the most 5-star Galicia hotels on Booking.com, though it’s smaller than Vigo which has a replica of the ship that reported America’s discovery.

The castle in nearby Baiona overlooks a beach, and Pontevedra slopes down to the sea. The undulating coastline continues to O Grove, known for beautiful beaches and hot springs. Thermal waters are also in Ourense, near the stunning Sil River Canyon in the hilly interior, home to most small hotels in Galicia.

It is an historic building on the water at Baiona. The common rooms are beautiful and vast and all of the staff were very welcoming. When we ordered a beer and tea after our 8 hour day on the Camino, we were given crisps, nuts and some cake which was a really nice touch and much appreciated

We had our own deck that we could sit out and read a book etc or watch the ocean. At night even though there was a bar next door we could close the door, turn on the aircon and sleep easily. The reception staff were wonderful. The young man was incredibly helpful

The house was situated on some sort of island and contained everything you needed. On two sides there was water. Only 2 minute walk was the beach and we had a nice view over the water. It is a nice camping and there is a village close with supermarkts and shops.

We arrived on a public holiday so most of the shops were closed. Lots of nice cafes and bars. I can recommend Café Sémola for delicious cakes and pastries and Peregrinus for dinner. At both places the staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient and the food was excellent. The view from the top of Monte do Castro is worth the climb. We took the ferry to Cangas. Lots of beaches to choose from. We were there on a Sunday so again most shops are closed.

This is a small town with a pretty historical centre. It's a nice place to stay for a night or so and a good base from which to explore the Galician coast. Even on a rainy January night, the weekend we stayed there was some life in the centre, and there are plenty of good places to eat.

Very nice area of Spain.

Very nice area of Spain. I would not go there (or anywhere in Spain for that matter) during months of July and August. It was soooooo hot and humid. Unseasonably so and that was what the locals told me. But the city and the Galician province is great. Food is fantastic. VERY easy to see the rest of the province via the national train system, and the train station is within walking distance from the hotel. The locals are quite welcoming and friendly.

Didn't find that there was much here - felt like it was designed just to exist as a stopover for Camino walkers. Getting around is easy as its just one miain street. My experience with restaurants was VERY disappointing (Cafetería Che 4 - didn't even eat what was served it was so bad and staff were terrible), but accommodation was fabulous (Pensión 9 de Abril - very comfortable and staff were amazing!).

A very lovely small town that has everything you need, with all amenities close by. It features a well-preserved historic center centered around a beautiful church. There are several thermal baths with natural springs bubbling up right in the town, including a former outdoor communal laundry pool filled with thermal water where you can soak and rest your feet. Additionally, there are plenty of cafes and bakeries perfect for breakfast and coffee, alongside numerous high-quality restaurants. A scenic river flows through the town, offering fantastic views from the bridge. The town also boasts a beautifully organized botanical garden and a free public swimming pool.
