Port Vila is recovering well from the major earthquake of a...
Port Vila is recovering well from the major earthquake of a couple of years ago, with plenty of reconstruction. The town centre has plenty of shopping, dining, and with the markets in full swing. There are numerous other dining spots around town.
What hasn't changed are the people; still smiling, still friendly, still helpful.
And the views are still as good as ever.
Some of the roads are in disrepair, which means travel by bus or taxi takes a little longer, but no hurry.

Excellent for families wanting a fun relaxing holiday...
Excellent for families wanting a fun relaxing holiday without it being too commercialised. It is not an overly cheap place to visit, however the place is very laid back and the people of Vanuatu are so friendly and generally make you feel welcomed. Snorkelling was amazing!

I love the people and the flexibility of Port Vila.
I love the people and the flexibility of Port Vila. You wake up and decide what you want to do that day. Jump in some dudes van and they will take you somewhere. Some of them will try and charge you a little more than they should but once you figure it out you should be OK. The beaches and lagoons are wonderful but most come at some sort of entry cost. The food is good and my favourite everyday spot was Island Time which does some of the best chicken and chips on the island. Their fish is good and their calamari is generous but their fried rice is not good. We visited all the waterfalls and lagoons we could and found our way to the Beach Bar for the fire show and the circus. The kids played with all the other local kids there and had a great time while I drank bourbon and coke and enjoyed some pizzas. It was a wonderful trip and the people of Vanuatu are so kind and welcoming - that is what makes it a great destination!

Favourite spots to eat were Cafe Villa, Three Pigs, Stonegrill and Coco and Co. Our favourite spots were Lelepa Island and the Blue Lagoon. Getting around Port Villa was easy and we immensely thank William and Max for the affordable taxi service they offered.

Port Vila is the largest Island of Vanuatu.
Port Vila is the largest Island of Vanuatu. Therefore it is busy with lots of cars around the main areas. There is a choice of hotels to stay at or take a day trip to one of the other islands by boat or plane. There are a lot of natural resources for visitors to enjoy and to support the local island people. The pace of life is typical of island life which makes for a very relaxing holiday. It is only 3.5 hrs by plane from Sydney to get to Vanuatu making it a must destination for Australians. Please keep in mind that it is a developing country so dont expect 5 stars and be patient with the locals. Expect island life and maybe a few bowls of Kava. 😀

Fantastic location with stunning views across to Iririki Island. Well set up apartment which was kept beautifully clean by Ruth and her housekeeping team. Close to Au Bon Marche for self catering and superb French restaurant Lalala a very short walk away. Parking on site for our hire car. Elliot was incredibly responsive when an issue cropped up with the TV. Fixed in no time! Thank you for all your efforts to ensure we had a wonderful family holiday and first visit to Vanuatu.

We had a week at Fatumaru lodge, it was perfect for a first trip to Vanuatu.
Staff were all lovely
Close to airport
Waterfront - free kayaks and paddle boards we used everyday.
A good kitchenette to self cater but also a really decent breakfast available at a cost. Enough dining out options also within walking distance, supermarkets also within walking distance.
Easy to catch a bus from right out front.
