AustraliaA stunning residence with very helpful hotel staff. The 'Deluxe Attic room' was perfect for two adults/two teens as it has a mezzanine with two single beds. Beautiful large bathroom. The hosts were so lovley and helpful. We arrived late at night which wasn't a problem. Local renowned architect Geoffrey Bawa designed the residence and it's a beautiful space to be in - beautiful indoor/outdoor design. Tea, water etc is available but no breakfast. Getting a tuk tuk around to nearby cafes is easy. We also went to the sister Jetwing hotel for buffet breakfast which was lovely.

We flew in to Colombo and were then heading north to Jaffna...
We flew in to Colombo and were then heading north to Jaffna by train so chose the Kingsbury hotel due to its proximity to the station. Had one full day to visit the sights of the city and feel that we did just that in one long day. Very helpful local self appointed guides; just be sensible and give them a little something for their service. Very easy to get around by foot or tuk-tuk but make sure you agree a price before travelling. Perfect start to our travels around Sri Lanka and also a great place to stay for the last night before flying out. Great restaurants in the old Dutch hospital site.

Nice ambiance, clean and good location. Staff's behavior is too good, in a friendly manner. By walking, you can access all the major site , bus stands, and shopping; also, all are around 1.2 Km (15 MIn by walking).

It is a safe city even at night and easy to walk around.
It is a safe city even at night and easy to walk around. The pick me app is very easy and convenient and charges for taxi rides are also economic. Lotus tower visit is a must and Observation deck there, should be visited in day lights to have better view of city. Galle view point is good for seaview but the beach is not for soaking. The markets in day time are crowded. You have to be careful with Auto Rikshaw Tuk tuk for bargains. They also take to their designated shops for forced tea and spice purchase. There are several malls nearby Cinnamon lakeview and i liked the Galle One Face the best

Lovely city with plenty to do.
Lovely city with plenty to do. Definitely with using booking.com to book a tuk tuk tour as you will get to see a huge variety of attractions and learn a great deal about the history of Sri Lanka. Everyone we met and spoke to was very lovely and welcoming. Just be wary of scam tuk tuk operators and only use booking.com or uber to book your rides. The Lotus Tower is a definite must do as the views are spectacular and the temples are incredible.

Colombo is a nice city to visit.
Colombo is a nice city to visit. We stayed at the Kingsbury and had breakfast and lunch. The quality of food and the service was excellent. The hotel chefs were very nice and made hoppers and dosa which I enjoyed a lot. The restaurant manager made sure we enjoyed our breakfast and was very friendly.
We visited the Sheraton for lunch. I most enjoyed the Lankan desserts kavum, mung kavum and halva. The food at the Sheraton was of excellent quality.
We also visited the ITC for lunch. The food here was of excellent quality. The pastry chef Kingsley explained to us about all the pastries and desserts made at the ITC. Chef Kingsley took us on a tour of the hotel and gave us the opportunity to sample some of ice cream varieties developed for special needs customers. All the chefs of hotels we visited were very nice and friendly and approached us with a smile. My brother and myself being chefs our selves were keen to visit most of the food outlets big and small to learn and sample all kinds of different foods. We also visited the port city, lotus tower and the Gangarama temple.
We also walked around Colombo city and visited the small cafes to sample different food types

The Galle Face Hotel is a favourite of ours. Full of charm and history. Wonderfully comfortable, very clean, large well equipped rooms, with very comfortable beds. The facilities for quality dining and relaxing on the spacious verandahs are excellent. The staff cannot be faulted, they all have that lovely Sri Lankan friendliness and always so obliging and helpful. The best place to stay in Colombo!

I stayed here for one night after arriving in Colombo early evening and with the intention to take the train to Kandy the next morning. For this purpose the hotel was great. It's about 10min by Tuktuk to the train station. The rooms were clean and spacious and staff was friendly. The breakfast buffet includes Western and Sri Lankan options.

Exceptional service. Didn't have the luxury to enjoy the pool due to our busy schedule. Will definitely explore next time. Staff were friendly and courteous. Allowed me to stay 3 additional hours so I could go to the airport without any inconvenience. Overall great Hotel and will definitely go back when I visit Sri Lanka next time.
